As the second year mark of the Russian imperialist invasion of Ukraine approaches, we cannot forget that the resistance continues and anti-authoritarians are directly involved in it.
Anyone can watch the film for free on YouTube, but viewers are encouraged to make a voluntary donation to the Ukrainian group Solidarity Collectives in Ukraine:

THE PLAY/THE FILM
The film captures the brilliant performance by Hadubyak at the play’s world premiere in 2023 @ Montreal’s La Sala Rossa that brought the audience to tears and their feet. The play was part of the 16th annual Montreal International Anarchist Theatre Festival.

A true story, the play is based on the extraordinary life of a fearless and feared, bad ass, Ukrainian woman anarchist and feminist military leader, Marusya Nikiforova (1885–1919).
She robbed banks, threw bombs, was imprisoned, escaped, attended military college in Paris, rode a horse, carried a pistol and a sabre, organized and led her own army to defend the Revolution in Ukraine against the German Army, Ukrainian Nationalists, the Czarist White Guard and ultimately the Bolsheviks during 1918-1919 before she was captured and executed with her husband. She also set up hospitals and schools, fed the poor, painted, and planted gardens.
In the play, Nikiforova relives key moments of her life while appearing before a final military tribunal. An important historical figure and role model, she demonstrates her incredible courage, her will to resist and the love that sustained her during a too short existence.

MARUSYA NIKIFOROVA : Ukraine's legendary anarchist warrior", met en scène l'actrice ukrainienne Mariya Hadubyak. Elle a fait pleurer le public et l'a fait applaudir à tout rompre lors de la première mondiale en 2023 à La Sala Rossa de Montréal.
Notre pièce faisait partie du 16e Festival international de théâtre anarchiste de Montréal. Ce film documente l'intégralité de la pièce. (C'EST EN ANGLAIS)
Cette pièce est basée sur la vie extraordinaire d'une femme anarchiste et féministe ukrainienne, Marusya Nikiforova (1885-1919), qui n'avait peur de rien et qui était redoutée.
Elle a dévalisé des banques, lancé des bombes, a été emprisonnée, s'est évadée, a fréquenté une école militaire à Paris, a monté à cheval, porté un pistolet et un sabre, organisé et dirigé sa propre armée pour défendre la révolution en Ukraine contre l'armée allemande, les nationalistes ukrainiens, la Garde blanche tsariste et, finalement, les bolcheviks, de 1917 à 1919, avant d'être capturée et exécutée avec son mari.
Elle a également créé des hôpitaux et des écoles, nourri les pauvres, peint et planté des jardins. Cette fascinante pièce en un acte la fait revivre."
