'Poets Against War!' is a fundraising poetry event featuring 18 poets from Montreal’s Palestinian, Lebanese, Iranian, Egyptian, Moroccan, Syrian, Jewish, Indian, Filipino, First Nations, English and French communities, Tues Dec 12, 2023, @ Bar Milton-Parc Coop, 3714 Ave du Parc, 7pm. Doors open 6pm. Suggested donation: $10 to $20.

'Poets Against War!' is a response of concerned Montreal poets to the harrowing loss of civilian life in Gaza and Israel. We mourn the death of every civilian, on both sides, and are heartbroken because of the violence, the kidnappings and imprisonment of civilians, and the destruction of homes, hospitals and schools. We condemn the genocide happening in Gaza and Palestine, the collective punishment of Palestinians, and Canada's complicity in these acts of aggression by providing military funding to and diplomatic support for the Israeli government.
Through our poetry, we denounce the concept of war as a solution to any conflict anywhere.

POETES CONTRE LA GUERRE ! est un événement de poésie destiné à recueillir des fonds, mettant en vedette 18 poètes des communautés palestinienne, libanaise, iranienne, égyptienne, marocaine, syrienne, juive, indienne, philippine, Premières nations, anglaise et française de Montréal, le mardi 12 décembre 2023, au Bar Milton-Parc Coop, 3714 Ave du Parc, à 19 heures. Les portes ouvrent à 18h.

Poètes contre la guerre" est une réponse des poètes montréalais concernés à l'effroyable perte de vies civiles à Gaza et en Israël. Nous pleurons la mort de chaque civil, des deux côtés, et avons le cœur brisé par la violence, les enlèvements et l'emprisonnement de civils, et la destruction de maisons, d'hôpitaux et d'écoles. Nous condamnons le génocide qui se déroule à Gaza et en Palestine, la punition collective des Palestiniens et la complicité du Canada dans ces actes d'agression en fournissant un financement militaire et un soutien diplomatique au gouvernement israélien.
À travers notre poésie, nous dénonçons le concept de la guerre comme solution à tout conflit, où qu'il soit.
