Film launch by the artist collective Isabelle’s Angels with book launch by Montreal author Norman Nawrocki & visual artist Ivan R.
The multi-disciplinary artist collective Isabelle’s Angels launches a film, 'Isabelle Walks With Angels,' while acclaimed Montreal author Norman Nawrocki and visual artist Ivan R. (also members of the collective) launch their newest book, 'Isabelle Walks With Angels, A Montreal Urban Legend' at the same time. Doors open: 6:30pm. Two screenings: 7pm & 8pm. The event is free.
Directed by Naomi Silver-Vézina, the film is based on Nawrocki’s short story of the same name about a woman living on the edge who meets an all-women biker gang. It incorporates theatre, dance, animation, visual art work & music. Local actor Lesly Velazquez stars as ‘Isabelle’; the choreography is by Leticia Vera; the artwork by Ivan R.; the sound design by Greg Smith; & the original music by the East European flavoured string ensemble DaZoque! (Minda Bernstein, Norman Nawrocki and Greg Smith).
'Isabelle Walks With Angels, A Montreal Urban Legend' – the book – is a magical realist story embedded in a full colour 84 page collection of powerful illustrations by the Montreal/Belgrade artist Ivan R.

Le collectif d'artistes multidisciplinaires Isabelle's Angels lance un film, 'Isabelle Walks With Angels,' tandis que l'auteur montréalais acclamé Norman Nawrocki et l'artiste visuel Ivan R. (également membres du collectif) lancent leur nouveau livre, 'Isabelle Walks With Angels, A Montreal Urban Legend,' en même temps. Les portes: 18h30. Il y aura deux projections: 19h et 20h. L'événement est gratuit.
Réalisé par Naomi Silver-Vézina (alias Naomi SV), le film est basé sur la nouvelle éponyme de Nawrocki, qui raconte l'histoire d'une femme vivant en marge de la société et qui rencontre un gang de motards composé exclusivement de femmes. Le film intègre du théâtre, de la danse, de l'animation, de l'art visuel et de la musique. L'actrice locale Lesly Velazquez interprète le rôle d'"Isabelle" ; la chorégraphie est de Leticia Vera ; l'œuvre d'art d'Ivan R. ; la conception sonore de Greg Smith ; et la musique originale de l'ensemble de cordes DaZoque ! aux accents d'Europe de l'Est (Minda Bernstein, Norman Nawrocki et Greg Smith).
