Moïse Charles-Pierre was about to open the door to his girlfriend’s house in Pointe-aux-Trembles when a police car pulled up out front. Walking toward it, he immediately recognized both officers — earlier that evening, they had briefly followed him on his way home.
A 43-year-old Haitian man, Charles-Pierre had often been subject to random police checks while driving. He had always co-operated, he says, but now he wasn’t even in his car.
