RCMP officer in Alberta charged with off-duty sexual assault in Edmonton

EDMONTON - Alberta’s police watchdog says an RCMP officer has been charged in a sexual assault of a woman in Edmonton.

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team says in a news release that it was directed to investigate the alleged assault last February.

It says Cpl. Kire Kondoski and the woman had been involved in a relationship.

The investigation found they were alone at the woman’s home sometime between July 30 and Sept. 3, 2018, while Kondoski was off duty.

It alleges Kondoski seriously sexually assaulted her when she asked him to leave after trying to end the relationship.

ASIRT says the evidence gathered provided reasonable grounds that an offence had been committed and it was forwarded to the Crown’s office.
