Parc-ex Contre la Gentrification presents a Plaza Hutchison DOUBLE FEATURE. We will be running simultaneous shows at La Sala Rossa & La Sottorenea as a joint fundraiser to support the tenants of Plaza Hutchison and the fight against gentrification in Parc-ex.
Located at 7300 Hutchison, across from Parc metro, Plaza Hutchison (the Johnny Brown building) has long been a community hub housing a range of public services, small businesses, residences, religious spaces, and more.
Ron Basal of BSR Group, a real estate development company, has recently purchased the property with the intention of tearing down Plaza Hutchison and replacing it with luxury condominiums. On Tuesday, March 13th, BSR was granted permits approving its project in a unanimous vote by the borough council of Villeray-Saint Michel-Parc Extension.
The people of Parc-ex say NO to gentrification! NO to displacement! NO to Ron Basal! Our neighborhood is in need of affordable housing and public services, NOT residences built by and for wealthy land-grabbers.
If the Plaza Hutchinson building turns into luxury condos not only will the current tenants be displaced but it will be a gateway for developers to move into the neighbourhood as its currently a keystone building. With UdeM moving in across the rails we need to stand up as a community now to stop further gentrification.
All proceeds will go to the legal fees of displaced tenants. The money will be going directly to a few people within the group who paid these fees out of pocket. The lawyer was hired to fight for the rights of the tenants during their evictions and to help develop a case against Ron Basal.
the $10/PWYC entry will cover both the Sotterenea and La Sala Rosa shows the same evening.

The Sala Rossa is located on the second floor (there are 38 steps total). There are gender neutral washrooms which are not wheelchair accessible. We have a Hearing Assistance System on the FM dial at 101.1 FM. Anyone needing assistance accessing our space can contact us as we are more than happy to try and accommodate people to the best of our ability.

The Sotterenea is located in a basement (there are 42 steps total). There are gender neutral washrooms which are not wheelchair accessible. Anyone needing assistance accessing our space can contact us as we are more than happy to try and accommodate people to the best of our ability.

Parc-ex Contre la Gentrification présente Programme Double pour Plaza Hutchison, une levée de fonds pour supporter les locataires de la Plaza Hutchison et combattre la gentrification dans Parc-ex.
Situé au 7300 Hutchison, à côté du métro Parc, la Plaza Hutchison ( l’édifice Johnny Brown) à longtemps été un centre communautaire abritant plusieurs services publiques, petit commerces, logements, lieu de culte etc.
Ron Basal de Bsr Groupe, une entreprise de développement immobilier, à récemment acheter la propriété avec l’intention de démolir la Plaza Hutchison afin de construire des condominiums de luxes. Ce jeudi, 13 mars, Bsr a obtenu les permis approuvant son projet par un à l'unanimité du conseil d'arrondissement de Villeray-Saint Michel-Parc Extension.
Les gens de Parc-ex disent NON à la gentrification! NON à la relocalisation! NON à Ron Basal! Notre quartier a besoin de logements abordables et de services publics, et non de résidences construites par et pour les riches.
En plus d’obliger le déplacement des locataires actuels, la transformation de la Plaza Hutchinson en condos de luxes ouvrira la porte du quartier au grand compet au développeurs immobilier. Tenant compte de la construction du nouveau campus de l’UdeM de l’autre côté du chemin de fer, il faut se lever en tant que communauté afin d’empêcher plus de gentrification.
Parc-ex Contre la Gentrification a déjà payé de sa poche les frais d'avocat des locataires déplacés. Tous les profits du spectacle iront vers payer les frais et les coûts accumulés par les locataires ainsi que les organisateurs.
L’entrée de 10 $ / PWYC couvrira les spectacles de la Sotterenea et La Sala Rosa le même soir.

La Sala Rossa se situe au 2ème étage (il y a 38 marches au total). Les toilettes sont de genre neutre et ne sont pas accessibles aux fauteuils roulants. Nous disposons d'un Système d'Aide à l'Audition disponible sur les ondes FM 101.1. Toute personne désirant une assistance pour accéder à notre salle peut nous contacter. C'est avec plaisir que nous tenterons de répondre au mieux à ses besoins.
La Sotterenea se situe au sous-sol (il y a 22 marches au total). Les toilettes sont de genre neutre et ne sont pas accessibles aux fauteuils roulants. Toute personne désirant une assistance pour accéder à notre salle peut nous contacter. C'est avec plaisir que nous tenterons de répondre au mieux à ses besoins.
