Const. James Forcillo faces new charges including perjury

The Toronto police officer convicted of attempted murder in the fatal shooting of Sammy Yatim on a TTC streetcar now faces additional charges of perjury and attempting to obstruct justice.

Const. James Forcillo, 34, was charged last month with breaching his bail conditions after he was found at the apartment of his fiancée when he supposed to be under house arrest at a different location.

Last month, Forcillo’s bail was revoked. He is now in prison serving his six-year sentence while awaiting the appeal of his conviction and sentence next spring.

The new charges relate to Forcillo’s sworn affidavit filed with the Ontario Court of Appeal seeking to vary his bail conditions. He was arrested shortly before that hearing was to take place.
