Opinion: New Montreal police policy won't stop racial profiling

In the midst of protests against police racism and violence around the world, the Montreal police recently unveiled its much-anticipated policy on street checks. The policy, while touted as a means of reducing racial profiling, contains nothing that was not already police policy. As such, the policy will do nothing to address the enduring problem it purports to solve and ultimately raises pressing questions about the relationship between city hall and the police department it oversees.
