315 Sainte-Catherine Est, Salle R-M130 UQAM

A Last Stand for Lelu

Tuesday March 29th, 6:30pm
Room M130 315 Sainte-Catherine Est UQAM

Join us for an amazing night of film, speakers, art and music to fundraise for the land defenders of Lax U'u'la Camp, who are defending their traditional territory of Lax U'u'la (Lelu Island) and Flora Bank from the Petronas LNG project.

Lax Kw’alaams members have set up a camp on Lelu Island, near Prince Rupert, as part of a “peaceful occupation” of the island that is the proposed site of Pacific Northwest LNG, a consortium led by Malaysian energy giant Petronas. They have done so to prevent the project from moving forward, since Petronas has been drilling and surveying their territory illegally.

We will be screening the brand new documentary film "A Last Stand For Lelu," which takes you to the frontlines of the fight to save Lelu Island and Flora Bank. This is a crucial time to support Lelu Island in every way we can - the final project decision from the federal government is expected around March 22nd!

Following the film, we'll be hearing via Skype voices from Lax Kw'alaams.
